Explore_-_ready_4._success_equation_%28andy%29

Welcome to probably one of the most important modules in Explore on the Social Enterprise Institute! Here we’re talking about social impact, which is really the ultimate reason why you’re getting into social enterprise development in the first place. Let’s frame this module first by talking about a quote from Greg Dees. Now Greg Dees was a professor at Stanford University, and he wrote an article called “the Meaning of Social Entrepreneurship.” Even though social enterprise runs as a business, selling goods and services to paying customers, its ultimate purpose is making a social impact, meaning making the lives of people and communities better. In other words, making money is an entirely necessary means to the end of making social impact; without a clear mission or path for achieving impact, the social enterprise doesn't exist. Peter Brinkerhoffer really summed it up nicely when he said: “Mission comes before money, but no money no mission.” Because social impact is as important, we begin with focusing on it at the beginning of the process, as we are here. Everything else in the Explore section (and beyond) will build on this foundation. Are you ready? Let's go! Please note: If you are completing any courses with a Coach or a Social Enterprise Developer for the Incubator, please email any documents you complete directly to your Coach or Developer - the downloaded documents can not be saved in the online course or your SEI account. Also, Coaches and Developers do not see your answers to the pre- and post-tests; these are for your information only. .helpButton { display: none; } body.bg { opacity: 0; -moz-animation: cssAnimation 0s ease-in 2s forwards; -webkit-animation: cssAnimation 0s ease-in 2s forwards; -o-animation: cssAnimation 0s ease-in 2s forwards; animation: cssAnimation 0s ease-in 2s forwards; -webkit-animation-fill-mode: forwards; animation-fill-mode: forwards; } @keyframes cssAnimation { to { opacity: 1; } } @-webkit-keyframes cssAnimation { to { opacity: 1; } } @import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Fjalla+One|Raleway); @import url(https://socialenterpriseinstitute.ca/styles/learnUponMin.css); Read More
